Physical Therapy Evaluation

Each patient receives a thorough evaluation at the beginning of care, and ongoing evaluation throughout the course of treatment.  Ongoing evaluation allows Dr. Carol to determine the source of your symptoms and implement / adapt treatment based on your response.  Your body is a complex dynamic chain and your symptoms may stem from your area of complaint or may be compensatory.  If your symptoms persist despite being previously treated, they are likely compensatory, caused by your body’s adaptation to prior issues, injuries, or abnormal posture.  Compensatory symptoms can include pain, headache, stiffness, vertigo / dizziness, or fatigue.  Insidious symptoms (without known cause) are often compensatory.  Compensatory symptoms will not resolve until you treat and resolve the cause.  Dr. Carol will determine and treat the CAUSE of your symptoms.

Bone and Joint Mobilization (Manual)

Dr. Carol is skilled at mobilizations.  The adult human body has 206 bones and 360 joints which contribute to posture, mobility, balance and agility, strength and flexibility, i.e. normal function.  Your body is a Dynamic Miracle!   When one area of the body’s dynamic chain is out of balance, symptoms can occur in the area of dysfunction and / or elsewhere in the body due to muscle imbalances or abnormal forces on your body’s structures.  Patients often present with more than one area of pain.  Symptoms may include pain, stiffness, restless leg, weakness, vertigo, dizziness, headache, chronic fatigue, loss of focus, and loss of motivation.    Dr. Carol will optimize joint function using a variety of techniques including joint mobilization to help you GET BACK TO LIFE!

    Soft Tissue Mobilization (Manual)

The soft tissue of the body refers to all of the muscle, fascia, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, synovium, fibrous capsules, organs, and nerves.  These tissue are vulnerable to imbalances, injury, and overuse syndromes and are involved in all pain disorders.  Your nerves and myofascial tissue can refer pain to other parts of your body.  Dr. Carol will diagnose which tissues are contributing to your symptoms and use a variety of techniques to specifically target your problem areas.

    Therapeutic Exercise

Dr. Carol may have you participate with specific Therapeutic Exercises targeted to your condition.  The exercises will be unique to your condition and prescribed to target your specific needs for strength, flexibility, balance, mobility, injury prevention, and pain management.  Dr. Carol will guide you on your path towards recovery and help you TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE!

    NeuroMuscle ReEducation

These are the techniques that access your brain and nervous system to facilitate relaxation and recruitment of the muscles for normal function.  Neuromuscular re-education techniques help restore the balance of your dynamic chain by normalizing muscle tone, strength and stability, flexibility, balance, and agility allowing your best recovery and more protection against re-injury or set-backs.  Dr. Carol will employ these techniques to help you accomplish your goals for pain management and return to function.

    Self Management

As a patient of Carol’s Physical Therapy in Motion llc you will be given the tools to learn how to best manage your symptoms and maximize your progress.  Dr. Carol will guide you towards your goals and teach you how to maintain your functional gains over the long term.
